Actually I agree with you on the lack of support…I study psychology for my degree and still I simply have never head of this ‘pure empathy’ thing that Will has :)” I wish the show would actually elaborate more on that, but I guess to keep him ‘special’ they have to draw on a bit of mystery.

Most of the time I can forgive it because HUGH DANCY’S ACTING IS PHENOMENON. And with most psychiatric disorders, ‘normal’ people simply have no way of understanding how their minds actually work - be it ASD or Schizophrenia. The treatments/interventions that we currently have only enables/train them to be able to tolerate/operate in the norm of our current social construct that we have set for the majority of the society….

BUT NEVER MIND THAT. SHIPPY PART IS GREAT 8D

I know, I have some interest in psychology, and i love watching crime series…

the most enjoyable part of it is watching how they solve each crimes…..

and this imo is not really enough….. . _ .

but everything else was great especially cinematic effects, and yes SHIPS.

I guess Hannibal isn’t one of those huh….no evidence, very minimum analysis, just Will’s hyperactive and incredibly accurate imagination XDD”

(We can wait for Sherlock S3 to come out thoooo aaaaaaaaaaa)

The cinematic effects is great *q*! And I think the chemistry between each character is really interesting (aside from the shippy part XD). And to be honest I sort of really like the idea of Alana and Will together as well uwu~

(SHE’S SO PRETTY AND NICE UBUBUBU)

Character development and everything else was awesome!

>:D /ANDOHMYGODSHERLOCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Yep. Those and Will’s interesting…faces….

Also let’s hope they don’t delay Sherlock anymore AND PLS NBC DON’T  CANCEL HANNIBAL I MEAN COME ON IT’S AWESOME

“You look lonely,” said the moon.

“Alone is not the same as lonely,” said the little boy, swinging his feet. “Not the same at all.”

“That is true,” agreed the moon, for she always spoke the truth. “And you are only one of those things.”

The little boy stopped swinging, for he was a clever little boy who often heard more than what was said. “I’m not alone here?” he queried, looking all around.

“You are not,” said the moon, glowing brighter with her words. “Your friend is waiting.”

“I don’t have friends,” dismissed the little boy, swinging his foot again. “And I don’t see anybody.”

“Then you’re not looking hard enough,” said the moon. “Perhaps you aren’t very good at it?”

The little boy scowled and sat up straighter in his swing. “I’m too good at it,” he replied, for there was a reason he was out here all by himself.

“Hmm,” said the moon. “Well, some looking is harder than others,” she acknowledged. “And finding a friend can be the hardest thing of all.”

“Who’d want me for a friend?” asked the little boy. “‘Only an idiot’, apparently.” He sniffed. “And why would I want to be friends with an idiot?”

“Oh, I see,” said the moon, her light dimming somewhat. “And do you believe everything that others tell you?” she asked. “Or only the things you fear to be true?”

The little boy fell silent. “What’s it to you, anyway?” he asked, after a while.

“Oh, nothing really,” said the moon. “You’ll meet one day, whatever happens - that much is written far above my orbit.”

“You’ve been up there for over four million millennia,” said the little boy, for he had not yet deleted astronomy. “Why do you care about a few human years?”

“The answer’s in the question,” replied the moon.

The little boy was quiet for a long time.

“Because you know what it means to be solitary,” he said.

And he jumped down from his swing.

#I CAN SEE THE STITCHINGS OKAY GODDAMN THIS ANIMATION IS GORGEOUS

#and then you have people only going about how ~hot~ he is
because fuck, you can see the lines under his eyes and even red on the edges of the whiteness of his eyes
and frost on the edgES OF HIS CLOTHING
but^

seriously, the amount of detail and animation in ROTG is just AMAZING, I felt like I could reach out and feel the fabric of their clothes, of Tooth’s feathers and oh my god , these people are amazing.

Tooth’s feathers have this purple sheen on the lower half of her body and it’s only apparent when her knees are bent or the angle is right

And Jack has kinda splotchy skin and scraggly canine teeth and salt and pepper eyebrows

AND TOOTH HAS FLAWLESSLY MANICURED NAILS

THIS MOVIE IS GORGEOUS

DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE PARTICLE EFFECTS FOR ALL THE SAND

this is the kind of post I’ve been waiting for.
yes.
to everything.

What’s even more amazing is a bunch of nerds created that shit. I wish they got more praise for the amazing shit they do all the time.

I remember one of the guys showing me the sand tests .. he used to work for NASA.

NASA

FUCKING NASA EVERYBODY!!!

“mum I’m moving to finland” “okay”

So many things about this that any public school teacher could tell you.

  • Kids need recess
  • Standardized testing accomplishes nothing, especially when they have to take 4-5 a year
  • Individualized attention from teachers is necessary
  • SpEd and EBD students do better behavior-wise when they’re integrated into mainstream classrooms.

But is the government listening?

I say this every time this Finland meme comes up and finally someone on the Atlantic agrees with me.

The reason why this works there and not here (or any place with a non homogenous population) is bc colonizers have no interest in educating the “other” or consider them equals that deserve unfettered access to education. This is why private schools exist. Ppl did not want their kids educated alongside people who they viewed beneath them.

That inequality conversation needs to be addressed first before any progress happens.

the monstering of abigail hobbs

thymoss:

This is a piece on Abigail Hobbs as an avatar for how Hannibal is in fact not merely hyper-aware of the role of women in the horror porn/crime procedural genre, and how it is both illustrating it in action in a multitude of ways; how it is subverting it; and how it is using abigail as a centerpiece of victimhood being manipulated slowly into an (un?)willing monster by the events and persons around her.

i recommend you read this excellent discussion of how in the first place Hannibal is most emphatically anything but a mindless and gratuitous horror porn, because i’m working off this assumption, and furthermore it deeply irritates me when people who have not even seen the show properly characterize it on freeze-frames of the show whose very purpose is to re-contextualize all the typical horror tropes

Okay, clearly: Hannibal is a shamelessly blatant metaphor for a lot of things; for the commentary on good vs evil/monsters vs humanity, for capitalism’s conspicuous and obscene overconsumption (see: fuller’s running joke of “everything is people”, explicit solyent green quote which itself was a movie about how the literal and figurative cannibalism of others is what fuels the system); for the horror genre as a whole. I’m working off the last one, and taking it to see how, in fact, through the character of Abigail Hobbs, is has done magnificently in giving a lot of agency and wonderfully disturbed depth and power to a female character, through subverting and internalizing the role that females generally play in crime procedurals.
